Description of cattle enterprise and what role the Hereford sire has and how you rear and market the Hereford offspring. 200 cow double-block dairy herd making optimum use of grazed grass. Cows calf 40% in spring, 60% in autumn. The first 6 weeks of each block are inseminated with dairy sires, thereafter a bull is used to sweep up. All replacement heifers are put to the Hereford bull for easy calving. As most of the farms in our area have commercial suckler herds we have a good market for our Hereford cross heifer |
